How to Create a New Product/SKU in Your Dashboard

Follow these simple steps to create a new product in the byrd dashboard and connect it with your e-commerce system.

Access the Inventory Section & Create a New Product

• Log into your byrd dashboard.
• Navigate to the "Inventory" section.
• Go to "Products" > click on the "New Product" button at the top right corner.
• There are two ways of creating a product in your dashboard: manually or via CSV upload.

Creating a Product Manually

1. Fill in Product Details

In the subsection “Manually”, fill in the following fields to create a new product:

• Product Name: Enter any name by which you can identify the product. This name will be printed on the customs declaration for international shipments.
• SKU: Ensure the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) matches the SKU in your e-commerce system. Update both systems if changes are made.

What’s SKU? Stock Keeping Unit - industry standard, unique identifier of a product.

2. Optional Information

While the following fields are optional, providing this information can make handling easier and are sometimes required for customs processing:

Customs-Related Information

• Country of Origin: Mandatory for shipping outside the EU (required for customs forms).
• Customs Tariff Number: Mandatory for shipping outside the EU (required for customs forms).
• Net Value: Provide the net value (cost of purchase/production) of your products. This is essential for customs and insurance claims in case of an accident at the warehouse. Uploading proof is not mandatory, but we encourage you to include it whenever possible.

Product Handling Information

• Description: Enter a description for your internal purposes.
• UPC / EAN (barcode): Enter barcodes for your products for scanning during picking. This is mandatory for product categories, unless creating a branding item like a flyer.

3. Save the New Product

• After filling in all the necessary details, click "Save" to create the new product.

Creating a Product via CSV Upload

• Prepare a CSV file with the required product details.
• Upload the CSV file in the "Products" section by clicking on "Upload CSV."
