How to create Packaging Units

Modified on Wed, 26 Jul 2023 at 12:32 PM

A Packaging Unit (P.U.) refers to a specific quantity or arrangement in which products are packaged together for transportation and sale, like a tray with six beverages.

An item sold individually is called a Single Unit (S.U.) or Selling Unit, which can be included in a packaging unit, such as one beverage from the tray.

Creating a product with P.U. in the customer dashboard:

  1. In the Dashboard, Go to inventory.
  2. Create a new product.
  3. Enable the packaging unit feature.
  4. Add necessary information:
  • Specify the number of selling/single unit items per packaging unit.
  • Enter the packaging unit's barcode (e.g., EAN 13).
  • Enter the selling/single unit's barcode in the "additional info" section.

Important points:

  • Notify Byrd before changing this option to avoid order processing issues.
  • Inform Byrd when editing an existing product to the packaging unit.
  • Ensure both P.U. and S.U. have individual barcodes.
  • The inventory displays total selling/single units, not packaging units.
